Alex DeWeese

I think Alex DeWeese is pretty rad. He's a quiet kid that lets his skating do the talking. I've been waiting for him to release footage for some time now and personally I think he's quite under rated... He decided to but his clips together from this past year. I'm pretty stoked to finally see it. Alex works and rides for Old Skool in Westerville.

Abandoned hotel

I've known about this spot for over a year now and finally just went to check it out.. Jay Croft and Patrick Walsh came down from Akron last night to hit up the skatepark and on their way they stopped by to skate it. They showed my some pictures and it finally motivated me to go hit it up. This thing is no joke.. It's awesome but terribly hard to skate. I was struggling to say the least. Here are a couple pictures of the pool. Now this place by no means a secret but I'm not going to blow it up by posting the address.... However it's on the East side... happy hunting.

Ripples 5

Chad posted "Ripples Volume 5" this morning... HOLY SHIT... it's good. It's pretty much all bangers. James Webber is blowing my mind. Imbossible fifty-fifty impossible out... so good. All filmed at Skate Naked. I can't wait for the weather to break.. I really want to be able to roll around outside.

Play Factory March Edit

Brad Hall & Pat Flaherty made a pretty long edit for the month.. the list of skaters is too long to list, footage is from a bunch of local spots and parks.... jam out to Tears for Fears as well.

OJ update

Not too long after graduating from CCAD, OJ hays moved from Columbus to Chicago where he's been a pretty busy guy. Aside from being one of the most technical guys you'll see on a skateboard he's an incredible artist and animator. He recently did the animation for a video for Chicago rapper "Chance the Rapper's" song Good Ass Intro. See it below:

Also, OJ has a small part in the new short video recently released by Pennsylvania company Scumco & Sons. It's called Road to Riches and it's one of the better skate edits I've seen in a long time. VERY worth checking out....

Absorb #50, Announcing Absorb Skateboards!

Dayton's Dave Ackels just released #50 of this local skate video series Absorb. If you're not familiar with these videos you should really take a look. Each one is awesome and a great view of the Dayton scene. I'd love for him to spend a few weeks in Columbus and to do an episode centered here. Check out the most recent one below...

ALSO, it's been announced that Dave is partnering up with Instrument Skateboard's Gary Collins to start a new board brand... Absorb Skateboards!! Here is the official announcement:
"We want to take a minute and thank everyone who has ever been part of ABSORB or has supported it in some way over the years. That support was what made it possible and gave us the drive to do this. None of us did this for money, we all just love skateboarding, it was the common thread. Skateboarding, shitty digital cameras, and the internet, thats about it. Fuck HD, fuck epic skate vids, fuck everything, it really was that simple, but skateboarding is bigger than that. It is about self discovery, it's about building relationships and it's about community. This is skateboarding, this is what we all know, and love. This is what ABSORB was about and will remain about, but it is time to expand. Gary Collins, owner of Instrument Skateboards and legendary skateboarder, has offered us a home in the Instrument family, we are excited to announce Absorb Skateboards!"

House of Vans Girls Night

Two of my friends, Susan Bishop and Sharon Kim; both former Columbus residents who both now live in NYC participated in the "Girls Night" at the House of Vans in Brooklyn this past Friday night.... Over 50 women participated. I've skated with Sue for a about 15 years, she hasn't been doing it very much since her move to the city last year. It's nice to see her out there shredding.
Here's a couple pics. (click the image to enlarge)

Hello again. updates...

I can't believe I haven't updated this in 8 months. I just looked at the stats and I can't believe that the page is still getting looked at. I'm not even going to try to give a full update on this past year.. couple notable things... Skate Naked is still going strong. Embassy opened a satellite location there. Taylor is (still) getting a ton of coverage, he put out a great edit from his trip to Italy.. James Webber had a "bro model" Instrument deck, Joe Charlton's video "Loudpack" was finally released. Dan had knee surgery and is finally back on his board... Drake, Tanner, Justin, Gage, Luke, James and Chad Butler have all been killing it and getting coverage. CJ Broke his leg in Florida last month. Blacksheep closed it's doors a couple weeks ago.... Andy Helvey started a skate blog: http://principleskateboarding.blogspot.com/
